That's excellent. The Beegees are getting a little tired. Queen's "Another one bites the dust" works too but I'm always scared I'll start humming it while the families in earshot.

I mostly need only some verses to get into the rythm right, the I`ll hopefully stay there for a while. Of course, you could also just look at the monitor, but that would be too easy, wouldn`t it. :bonk:

:dj: Way too easy ;). There is always the metronome on the monitor but I hate using it. It's very irritating and maintaining cadence just isn't a problem I've had working codes. Besides. Firemen do excellent CPR and if anything a little faster is better. A lot of the more recent evidence is steering the cadence towards the 120 mark.

Yeah, with the LP15, we don`t have that gimmick (not that I´d miss it much). I actually meant checking the pulse rate showed on the monitor when you`ve got your finger clip attached.

That's interesting. Our new LP15 has it, I used it for the first time and found it to be a very useful tool. Out in our rural area, the number of people who show up on scene varies. We ran a code with 2 paramedics, 1 intermediate, and 1 VFF. And, for a time, there was only the first three of us.

Unfortunately, this meant that we were doing compressions longer than the 2 minutes out of necessity, at least to start. With the monitor, we can gauge our depth and could tell when we absolutely needed to switch when we started going slower than the beat on the monitor.

...Besides. Firemen do excellent CPR ...

Man, not my experience often enough to get anywhere near a stereotype. I once came on scene, not my call, just came as backup when I heard the crew call in that CPR was in progress, to see a fireman doing CPR one handed, and not good at that...while yacking with another....Making sure that all of the badge bunnies saw that he did this so well, and so often, that he could practically call it in over the phone.

Pissed me off right away, this whole, 'hero pose', but before I could say anything the medic on the call said, 'I"m sorry, are you tired? Would you like a nap? Why don't I get someone to replace you until you're rested enough to do actual CPR.' and then asked for him to be replaced by the next person, that, being less heroic in nature found that they needed two hands to do compressions properly.

Yeah, he wasn't a happy camper. And I'm confident he spent the rest of the night explaining to his buddies how the stupid 'Paragod' got in the way of him saving lives. ("Probably could have saved 'em if he'd just let me do it my way....")

I'm not a huge fan of calling people out on scene..but in this case it was warranted, in my opinion, not to mention an excellent learning opportunity for the volunteers on scene.
