Kiwiology Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Still peddling your little play group that no real Ambulance Paramedics care about I see Remind us again where we can find your submissions to AHWMC regarding Paramedic registration and regulation in Australia or what your position statement regarding a mandated shift toward higher education or the evolution of extended roles for the Paramedic is?
Just Plain Ruff Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Nicely done website though. Is this organization trying to become the NREMT that the US has?
Kiwiology Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 No, they are a club for dreamers, industrial first aiders and private "Paramedics" that holds no regulatory, licensure or credentailing power whatsoever. In Australia the State-run ambulance services and Paramedics Australasia (ACAP) are pushing very hard for registration of Paramedics with the AU Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. The problem is with AU being so heavily invested in mining and industry that there is a very strong market for private first-aid and such services are big business, hence where this outfit sprang up from, it's basically a group of mines first aiders and private-hire people. Now why is that a problem? Because they are selling themselves as something they are not, perhaps not deliberate but the inferrance is there, lots of people have probably shoved "registered with the Australian registery of EMTs" on their CV and it looks good, nobody knows what on earth an "EMT" is because AU doesn't have such a title and it sort of all gets lost in la-laland. Now it's not that I am personally against whatever little treehouse club this guy and his dreamer mates are trying to sell but it is misleading, it detracts from the professional advancement of the Ambulance Paramedic in Australiasia and its rather amusing to watch him peddle it off around the internet.
