flamingemt2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 When you are the oppressing race/or sex that discriminates against the others, you tend to get a backlash when those persons are freed: 1. During the civil rights movement, some blacks were peaceful, some were not -- The black panther party was formed, their were riots, and even MLK's peaceful protests were met with disdain by the whites in those communities. 2. When women went for equal rights, they protested, and burned their bras in public, which infuriated men (how dare she even speak a thought without my permission). 3. The Arab Spring has been incredibly violent. 4.. As gays are allowed to be out of the closet a little more, some will do things to purposefully push your buttons in public. That's the price you pay for trying to oppress someone else. Captain kickass, you might as well have asked why cant we have a "white" NACCP, united negro college fund, African american history month ? My parade does nothing to harm you or your marriage, but we know what the real problem is when straights get offended ............ it is because you have to confront your own homosexuality that is inside you, and you don't like to have those thoughts.
Kaisu Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 It is not like you will turn the corner and run into a bunch of Hooter chicks. You'd have to be pretty oblivious to accidentally run into a Gay Pride Parade.... but if that's your story than you better stick to it...
flamingemt2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) Sorry we must have been writing at the same time when I edited my post. What I mean is that patrons have to make a conserted effort to be exposed to Hooter girls. They know where they are gpoing and what htey are going for. It is not like you will turn the corner and run into a bunch of Hooter chicks. My point would be that hooters is as close to a strip club as you can be, but it is quite legal and has no opposition, because it is normal to see half naked women. Flip it around and open a restaurant called "Dicks" where you only have men waiters who are dressed only in a bow-tie and a thong (and you have to make sure that all the waiters are well-endowed), and see how many backward municipalities will approve that license ? Maybe in San Francisco, Atlanta, Miami, or New York, but that's about it. Edited December 9, 2011 by flamingemt2011
tniuqs Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) When you are the oppressing race/or sex that discriminates against the others, you tend to get a backlash when those persons are freed: Freed ? OMG homosexuality has been around since the dawn of time wtf ? Do what you want, have sex with goats, I personally don't give a rats ass but please don't push your sense of values on me, do I have a "I don't get any parade day" no and I DEMAND my permit ! 1. During the civil rights movement, some blacks were peaceful, some were not -- The black panther party was formed, their were riots, and even MLK's peaceful protests were met with disdain by the whites in those communities. Ok your now comparing a fringe group based on sexual preference to a huge race discrimination issue ? 2. When women went for equal rights, they protested, and burned their bras in public, which infuriated men (how dare she even speak a thought without my permission). Pretty blanket statement there you do realise your stereotyping all males from the 1920s up to present day. 3. The Arab Spring has been incredibly violent. So now religious based uprisings against dictators are anywhere near a comparison ? your killing me here ! 4.. As gays are allowed to be out of the closet a little more, some will do things to purposefully push your buttons in public. Ezactly my point (perhaps you did not READ my post ?) for an intelligent approach for acceptance of a gay community, and my father always said you can catch more flys with honey than you can with battery acid, get a grip on reality mate. Just an idea how about "Gays To End Poverty" the moneys used for costume alone would feed many many children that live in squalor, you know I could get behind that (no pun intended) That's the price you pay for trying to oppress someone else. Really is that right, that ALL people have latent homosexual thoughts that's extremely interesting, where did you get that theory ... Desmond Morris ? "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." Albert Einstein Ask yourself one question flaming is Gay Pride Parade day working well for you to be accepted in mainstream america ? .. ps read the last 6 pages. Edited December 9, 2011 by tniuqs
tniuqs Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Let's remove the homosexual element from this for a minute, and talk about another group of people who's sexual expression is not maintstream; BDSM. <snip for brevity> I find your entire post curiously stimulating .. Call me any time !!!!!! Due to tremendous effort and sacrifice on the part of a lot of people, it is now ILLEGAL to fire people for their sexual orientation. Gay people still face a lot of discrimination in many areas. But as a white anglo saxon taxpaying divorced Male I cant say jack shit and if they use this protective measure as job security ONLY ? Then about a women dressing in Victoria Secret lacy underwear, so obvious to all the intent or of a gay guy gossiping in public because his buddy is hung like a horse this all acceptable, seriously there is one group that is suppressed in freedom of speech and it is not the gay community or women these days .. favourite saying in the workplace today that comment made me feel "UNCOMFORTABLE" WTF over ? Then one is guilty until proven inocent .. oh dont get me going ! Gay Pride day is one day to take these activities and make them public.. to be open and proud of the things that fulfill and exhilarate you. It can be a giddy feeling, and yes.. even reckless. There are those that purposefully "scare the horses". That can be an act of aggression and anger. It's throwing all those labels into the face of society and saying YEAH - I AM A SICK AND DISGUSTING PERVERT - what are you gonna do about it? Agreed. Certain displays offend you? Why? Primal disgust at men sucking each others dicks? Why? Pissing on each other? Why? In public YES ! So much of what we hold as "correct" in sexuality in this country is repressed puritanism. Question it. Believe me, your mind (and your sex life) will soar. Teach me PLEASE ! <snip picture of fat fairy > ... and this offends you Mobey? It offends ME .. ewwweee .. this should be reported to the fashion police he has no sense of style and thank god I cant see his shoes !
DFIB Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 The law sir... is an ass. It used to be legal to do many things that today are considered horrendous.. and illegal to do things that today are considered acceptable. The fact is that the law trails behind justice... and it is people working outside the legal that force the changes.. I see the disney prostitots engage in dress and behavior on television that your children watch that would have you running for the torches and pitchforks if you see it on the gay pride parade. This double standard exists because the sexual preferences of those in power are understandable and ok, while those "not like us" are deemed perverted and obscene Lamentably generality establishes the rule in most societies. The laws may be flawed and influenced by tho morays of the writers but are still ths measuring stick for lawful public behavior. So what is the solution? A more diverse congress? State legislature? A 'colorblind' society.
HERBIE1 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Jealous? Just a partial list of what the straight community acts like in relationships: Simple Assault Dispute/Disturbance with Physical Abuse Aggravated Assault Threats Harassing or Obscene Telephone Calls Malicious Destruction of Property Larceny Rape Theft Kidnapping Robbery Stalking Annoying & Accosting Arson Disorderly Conduct Extortion/Blackmail Indecent Assault Trespassing Peeping & Spying And I don't mean to imply that gay people don't do this too.. far as I can see, we all pretty much act the same. Jealous of what- walking down a public street, looking like I belong in some alternate universe's version of a porn show? I don't think so. Ever hear of a Leatherman's Convention? I'd like to see you try to equate that with something from the heterosexual community. At least those are events held in hotels, not out in public, parading down the street. I thought this thread was about heterosexual vs gay pride events like parades, not the criminal behavior of every possible criminal act committed by anyone in society.
DFIB Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 You'd have to be pretty oblivious to accidentally run into a Gay Pride Parade.... but if that's your story than you better stick to it... Very nice, No not exactly but I can see the humor in it. :0
mobey Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Certain displays offend you? Why? Primal disgust at men sucking each others dicks? Why? Pissing on each other? Why? Yes! And it is my choice not to watch it! No different than people puking makes me nauseated, thankfully though, there is not a group of people taking a stand and purposfully puking in public to prove a point! I am not asking these questions to try and imply that these activities should not be confined to more private arenas (altho if you take your kids anywhere near the vicinity of a gay pride parade and get upset at what they see then you are an idiot. It's not like these things are sprung on people by surprise) but to encourage you to question your judgements about what is and what isn't acceptable in the sexual arena and why? T.V. is getting really hard to filter, although we do our best. We do not attend pride parades. I think anything that makes you happy is acceptible in the sexual arena. The location of the sexual arena is the problem ... and this offends you Mobey? Why? because he's got an ass crack and a big belly? He doesn't look like a model? Cause he's a guy? Guess what? Most of you macho male EMS types look a lot more like this guy than like the media paragon of human beauty that we wouldn't mind seeing naked. Heaven forbid that we should accept this and like it... It might mitigate the body hatred and self loathing that leads to so much self destructive behavior. He does not offend me at all! The message he is sending is wrong though. here is the message I am recieving: "I have the mentality of a 16y/o boy plastered in black makeup listening to Marilyn Manson. I will not conform to what society demands of me because I am not a machine. I am not trustworthy as an employee, or a neighbor because I have no filter as to what I will expose the general public too. I am proud of the fact I don't care about my health, or my image, and will let those impressionable souls know through example it is ok for them to not care about thiers either" I feel like you missed the spirit of my post. I am personally discusted by this pic because hairy fat men dressed like faries discust me! However... That is NOT a reason to opress this gentleman. I am making 2 different points here, 1) Public displays of extremism (peeing on eachother, BDSM etc) are not accepted in our society, and furthermore, if done in a public forum where children are present may in fact constitute predatory offences.... I am not really sure. but that is where my vigilante justice line is crossed. 2) The message sent by people such as the one in this pic is not the message typed by flaming. From my couch it appears this is the only "type" of people at these parades. I have a very open mind, I am sure lots that goes on behind closed door in my house is considered taboo or downright wrong by some. But being a respected part of society, there is a reason I leave it behind closed doors! Society is civilized as we define it in this day and age, I do not look forward to the day when it is sociably acceptible for 'two girls with one cup' to do thier thing on my lawn with no reprecussions.
Richard B the EMT Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Let's remove the homosexual element from this for a minute, and talk about another group of people who's sexual expression is not maintstream; BDSM. OK, educate me, as to what BDSM stands for. SM=Sado Masochism? The law sir... is an ass. Hey! I'm the one usually quotes Mr Macawber, from Dickens' writings! Aaaah, what the heck, I'll let you slide...THIS TIME! lol.
