DwayneEMTP Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Richard, no offense intended Brother, I truly didn't know that. I was under the impression that all of NYC EMS was cross trained and worked both duties. Though, of course, knowing that you're EMS specific explains the quality of your posts... :-) Dwayne
Bernhard Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 If anyone has to say to anyone else, or ask, that they're "Cool", They're NOT "Cool". Hey man, keep cool!

Richard B the EMT Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 A short while after the September 11 Attack, the magazine of the National Safety Council misidentified an FDNY Fire Fighter as being an FF/Paramedic. They published my "Letter to the Editor", in which I explained the difference, down to the different colored turnout gear, boot styles, and helmits, where I told them, in the FDNY, there's no such thing as an FF/Paramedic or FF/EMT. As in my letter, I also explained that some members of FDNY are also in VFD and VAS/VAC units outside the city, where they may be cross trained personnel, but when in FDNY, of the separation of FF and EMS duties (except for Certified First Responder-Defibrillator Engine Companies).
