Just Plain Ruff Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Deleted posts can sometimes make the context of following posts confusing, like unexplained edits. That is why I, and I notice most, explain their edits, which I think is cool as hell. Anyone remember a member here, I can't remember who, that used to post something silly or inflammatory, would get a bunch of contrary responses, and then go back and edit their original posts to make it appear that they had the superior opinion and that those that followed were just idiots? Anyway, I have no idea who deleted the above mentioned posts but Bernhard's comments were, in my opinion, appropriate and well considered in their original context. Perhaps our malcontents will notice that my comments were deleted as well? My permission was not asked, nor necessary. How will you now make the argument that it's censorship targeted at you specifically? And for the record, as it evidently needs to be said more regularly, there is no right to free speech here. The City belongs to Admin and we enjoy it with his permission. He can leave it here or remove it on a whim should he choose. Please review such rights before making comments regarding censorship, free speech, and oppression. We enjoy a freedom of thought and speech here that I've not found on any other professional forum regardless of subject matter. Dwayne that's true Dwayne, our free speech rights extend to only as far as admin deems to throw them. So if someone posts a truly inflammatory post and it gets deleted they better not cry a river or bitch out of both sides of their mouths because they really have no free speech rights on this forum, they are only given the amount of free speech that admin deems appropriate. I have had some of my posts deleted and was I upset, nah, not in the least.
DFIB Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I have not seen HLPP for some time now but she mysteriously reappeared and posted right after Flaming’s post was edited. Is this a coincidence or are these two posters the same chick? Hmmmmmm.
systemet Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Heh...Yeah. I try to remember that we're not seeing a representative cross section of 'everyone' when working with patients, but a relatively small subset of a certain mentality. This is an awesome post, and I think this point is well worth remembering. I used to argue with my wife, a researcher, that her perspective on society was warped by hanging around with super-educated people in a very privileged environment. It took a little break from EMS for me to realise that while I was probably right, my perspective on society was similarly warped. When you see the results of negative, and often cruel and thoughtless behaviour on a daily basis, and deal with the sort of people that make up a large proportion of the call volume in an inner-city EMS system, you tend to think this is representative of the greater world at large. Even being aware of this, it's hard not to let the experiences you encounter doing EMS affect your greater view on life. 1
DwayneEMTP Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 But, back on topic.... I think it's ironic that this thread kind of makes the point that I was aiming for in my previous post. That the world is populated by a majority of kind, generous, loving people, with the occasional shithead thrown in for flavor. If you believe the media or religion you'll certainly believe that the world is evil, populated with mostly evil. If that's true them my experience is extraordinary as I've found the 95/5 percentage of good to bad people to seem to hold pretty steady no matter what country I've been in. So to answer the question, "What is wrong with people?" For the majority, very little outside of the battles that they fight with their personal demons. What is wrong with some people? Fuck knows which is why our mental institutions and prisons are overflowing. I'll choose to look for the good people as that's where the positive energy exists for me... Dwayne
nypamedic43 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 My posts were deleted as well but I am not bothered by that. I didnt call names or anything like that, which, I am actually kind of proud of myself for lol! As for "Whats wrong with some poeople?" Who knows really. Maybe they are tweaked at the way someone treated tham that day or they blame thier fathers for all of thier woes. Dwayne, I, like you choose to look for the good in people. And there are times when I am truly shocked by what people can do to each other. Some of them I dont want to delve into too much...'cause I probably would have nightmares for the rest of my life.
MongoMedic Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Was browsing around and happened to find this story. Why would someone want to do this to people?? Slowly but surely losing faith in my fellow man. Jessi a couple of thoughts on your question and about losing faith in your fellow man. First unfortunately there are some people in our world that just don't care or have a mean spirit about them. The good news to this, is these people are actually a minority on the grand scheme of things. I have been fortunate enough to literally experience the world in my job. So by being able to do that, I have seen more good in people than I have seen bad. It took me a minute to truly realize this but it is true. As far as losing faith in your fellow man. Although Dwaynes test is great you just have to one thing. Take a look around you and see your fellow brothers and sister caring for the sick and injured on a daily basis. This should be a testament that there are great people who share a gift that has been given to them, from whom ever they may believe in. That right there should be enough to help you keep faith in fellow man kind. Just my thoughts as one of many creatures on this mud ball we call earth. MongoMedic 1
Bernhard Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 ARe you on the right thread Bernhard? That's actually THE question of my life... Thanks for "un-confusing" me to ERDoc and Dwayne, for a short moment I thought one of THOSE things happened to me again.
aussiephil Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Why? Only 1 person can answer that. "Smith claimed to have had sex with as many as 3,000 people of both genders." This is his claim for 3 years. This works out to 3 different people per day, every day for 3 years. He either had viagra on tap or he is dreaming
