Under the new AHA CPR guidelines, are they not recommending to confirm asystole in a second lead anymore? If you can site an article from AHA please do, thanks.

How about you read through their journal Circulation. Not trying to bust you down, but the journal is openly published, free and easy to access through the AHA. Learning how and where to find this information will only benefit you as a provider.

Clue: How many leads does an AED use?

chbare, cannot find any place where it says anything about it. I've looked in circulation journal and can't find it. I asked if you could cite the info.

Haven't read anything from the AHA about it, but a couple of weeks ago our medical director put out a memo stating we no longer needed to confirm asystole in multiple leads. They reprogrammed all of our monitors to go immediately to the paddle view upon being turned on too.

Did you happen to send an e-mail for clarification off to AHA? They might be able to help you.

No I haven't yet, that's my next move. I did a recert in ACLS last fall and don't remember ever hearing about it there.

it may be an interpretaton of the minimize inturruptions to CPR to less than 10 seconds guideline. The thought may be that it may takeyou longer than 10 seconds to switch leads, etc.

No not a rule, but an unussual intepretation of a difenet rule.

But that i sjust a guess, coming from an ACLS instructor.
