It all depends on your state..most require at least an instructor course. Some require service time at that level..

in NC we have to have at least Level 1 instructor cert, which we get from taking Instructor Methodology and actually teaching to our class we get hours to credit towards our level 1

I'm also beginning to help the main Basic instructor in teaching skills at the skill stations when he has practical days, these hours will give me credit towards my level 2 instructor cert, which I'll need if I want to teach by myself at the basic level

I agree.. check with your local Unit/Dept/Bureau of EMS. In Missouri it is 3 years (I think) as an EMT, and then a 40 Hour Course on how to teach, write lesson plans, etc. Savoy can give you more info about Missouri Standards.
