Hi Everyone!

I recently helped with an accelerated EMT class in Guatemala City. It was amazing to see the lack of basic equipment and other resources as well as the violence that the local fire fighter/paramedics have to handle on a day-to-day basis. Here are a few links for videos and information for anyone that's interested. Please share these with colleagues because the more attention the Bomberos get, the more resources they'll likely receive.

Thanks!

Sadly this is the story in most third world EMS systems. Guatemala City is considerably safer than a few years ago but Honduras is worse.

A word of caution Central Americans are masters at seducing with their misery. If you raise resources I would recommend going through a civilian organization that could oversee the on site delivery and management. Rotary International is often interested in in that sort of work.
