Just Plain Ruff Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Make sure the contraption isnt made of recycled materials and just to be on the safe side, parachutes for all Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Arctickat Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Fortunately he had enough momentum to clear the cliff and deploy his chute.
paramedicmike Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) Before I saw what happened I could tell by the set up what was going to happen. Edited October 16, 2012 by paramedicmike
Just Plain Ruff Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Yeah that was a given. Darwin missed another. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
DFIB Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 105,000 feet and still climbing. My science and adventure geek is loving this. My inner redneck is loving this. It would have been better if he shot his balloon instead. You know that the guy that tied balloons to his lawn chair and shot them to come back down is sitting at home saying "That was my idea!" while he spills beer on his lap.
Richard B the EMT Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Somewhere, there's another guy, did the stunt with plastic garbage bags filled with helium. His problems started when the ground teather broke, as he wasn't intending to do more than float at an altitude of 15 feet! His flying beach chair actually went out over some body of water.
History Nut Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Sorry to be "picky" but don't you mean the "Columbia", not "Discovery" as the shuttle that broke up on reentry?
paramedicmike Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Yep. You're correct. It was Columbia and not Discovery. An error on my part.
