I'm in the process of applying for jobs right now. I heard that chances of getting hired are much better if you drop off your application in person(as opposed to applying online or something). Is this right?

Well, I've heard of people getting interviewed right away while doing this, so I plan on dressing up like I'm there for an interview. What do females typically wear to these kind of interviews? Are skirts completely unacceptable?(Pencil skirts)

Short heels are pretty much unavoidable for formal wear, so what kind of footwear did you girls have? What about the hair? I was thinking of tying my hair in a pony tail, like I always do, but I did a quick google search and someone advised not to. Well, my hair is long, and it almost touches my hips... so I'm not sure leaving it down is such a good idea. Also, light makeup or no makeup at all?

Any additional advice is much appreciated!

All depends on whether you are applying at a small service , a municipal entity, or a big corporate entity

A small service might have a manager present to interview you , but usually they have a scheduled time for doing interviews.

Municipal or corporate entities the process usually starts in human resources and then get passed along to management for the interview process.

You should never go to the service dressed like a slob even if you are just dropping off your application, Dress professionally and look the part of trying to get employed.

This is true in any business. I watched a youth show up at a restaurant applying for a job, He had on tattered jeans and a t-shirt with satanic logos on it.

Do you think his app went in the round file??
