[Just Plain Ruff]

Ok, I thought that they would have at least have gotten better but alas I was wrong.

I turned on Chicago Fire tonight, the first time since I watched it in the first week. I nearly gave up on it the first week. So I decided to give it another try. I was sorely disappointed by the 5 minutes that I watched tonight.

The Firecrew and EMS crew get a call on an active shooting scene and they arrive well before Chicago Police.

They are met with Active shooting.

No staging. No checking if the scene is safe. They go right in to the scene and they get shot at.

Then after the commercial, the captain is blaming the cops because they didn't get their quick enough.

Apparantly I just need to give up on this show entirely because they JUST DON"T GET IT.

well is it a documentry or a fictious show....then that will give you your answer as what you need to "get".

remember, action gets the show watched by the mainstream public.........where else do you slove a case with scientific equipment that can do something in 15 minutes the in reality takes weeks, like they do on CSI..............

for goodness sake it is a bloody tv show................laught at it and get on with life........we know how things really work

I'll be the one to say it..

I enjoy it, I enjoy it as a TV show. The "TV Show" title is the key here. They aren't real firefighters ( but one of them did play as a surgeon. ) and the two paramedics aren't really paramedics. From the time I punch out to the time I punch in again my "professional" attitude towards people goes away and I am me. The point as I am trying to get at is don't take the show too seriously or professionally, you're going to have a bad time if you do. As Craig said, we really know how it goes down. Not like this is a teaching video for EMT's or firefighters!

Yeah I know that, and I know that they aren't real paramedics and all that but there are many people out there who got into EMS or Fire service based on the TV shows of the past.

The public knows no better and they see these Yahoo's going into active shooting scenes and they say "dang these guys are idiots and then it rubs off on their opinions on us and they begin to expect miracles out of us.

Does everyone remember Rescue 911? Remember that no-one ever died in that show. Well the public perception at that time was that you call 911 and they came and saved your life. That was the downside to the show, the upside to the show was that the influx of people into public safety was a lot of people began their careers at that time.

Listen, I know that this is fiction, I know that it's a bunch of hooey and it's entertainment but come on, they have professional advisors on the show, they can't even get the simple things right that don't even take a simple minded fool to get right.

For pure entertainment purposes, I'll watch the show if there is NOTHING else on, but I had a Quantum of Solace rental to finish but I won't turn it on for any other reason.

And if anyone gives me the full season on DVD as a white elephant gift this christmas, I will exchange it for Grandma's old set of false teeth embossed in porcelain.

For the record, it's their show, their money for production and their scripts. yes they may have advisors, but they don't have to listen to what they say...after all they want to do a show that gets as many people watching a possible, then more will pay for advertising during the show, and they then make more money........

So you are complaining about a fictional show on EMS and how they do outreageous things that are deemed incorrect to us in the know....BUT........I didnt realise that being a spy for British Secret Service lead you to gamble millions of dollars at high rolling casinos, bed the most beautiful women, kill as many bad guys as possible and have all the 'best' toys to play with...not to mention do things that are physically impossible to the human body...........

besides, there are heaps of TV shows that stretch the boundry on reality..........just enjoy it and laugh at what they do....let the public think what they like...........all good in love and war.............cheers

But Craig, if I was a Secret agent, I might be upset about the bond shows too.

But I'm just saying that the show sucks and shows us in the worst light. I said I also would watch it if there wasn't anything else on to watch. And that the public sometimes gets the wrong impression even though we in the business know better.

But I'm done with the discussion because no-one else on here has anything to say on this thread.

we had a show here called police rescue. it was all about techical rescue and was something similar to chicago fire from what i understand......we used to sit at work on duty and watch it as it was the funniest thing to see them do things all wrong........water off a ducks back

so it happens all over the world in all types of vocations...........if only to be a doctor on greys anatomy...........

I admit.. I gave up on Chicago Fire after the kid with the chest issue. I didn't watch a single episode. Then, two weeks ago, I came down with the flu, which I still have.... EVEN AFTER I HAD THE GODDAMN FLU SHOT. Just Sayin.... So I'm flipping through the "on demand" menu of my digital cable service, and there's either Family Guy, or Chicago Fire that I hadn't watched. So, naturally, I watched Family Guy. Then... yanno.. It was down to Chicago Fire. So, I watched all of them. Then I watched it on TV. Now, I just can't wait till the next episode. Maybe my lack of response to prolly a pretty high fever, caused brain damage?

On that note. Bed.

I cant wait for the next weeks episodes. I know it's unrealistic but you have to admit, the people in there are GORGEOUS!!
