ERDoc Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 If that is living, I think I'll take death. I know it is all in the head, but no thanks. Quote
eskabob Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Are those mealworms? Frogs and escargot are one thing...but mealworms just remind me of reptile food. I'm sure it's a great source of protein though. Quote
Happiness Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Defib you eat funny things. ERDoc I agree on the normal meat but I will say that I will not eat deer from anywhere but here. A deer's taste is based on what they eat and when they are shot, and how the are shot for example if the deer has run after the shooting the meat is grossssssssssssssssssssss. Drop it dead and it is an awsome meat. You really should try it, if I can any this year I will send you a can Eskabob im sure if your earthquake distroyed everything that reptile food would look awsome Quote

I'm sure it's a great source of protein though. Those are parasitic worms that hatch and grow on maguey cactus. They are called chinicuiles. In the highlands of Mexico they are considered a seasonal delicacy. Another regional delicacy that is kinda unique are called escamoles. Escamoles are ant eggs that are harvested from the dessert. I only eat them when invited, mainly because they are pretty expensive and my family will not touch them. EDIT: Both taste better than you would expect. Defib you eat funny things. scubanurse Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I have carabou, elk, and some deer from last season in our freezer right now. I will not buy meat from the store when I have a man to go kill it, gut it and cut it up personally. I don't know what kind of beef I'm getting from the store, but I can tell you the region our elk meat is from and when exactly it was killed and how. I like that. Elk is amazing though and one of my favorites. Quote

He happens to have a hanging walk in cooler, so one day the neighbour kid (about 6 i think) was walking in the culdesac, when Stan said "Hey Brett come and see what I have in the cooler" Now being Brett the little red neck, he went running to see. Stan opens up the door and says"look I shot Rudolf" Bretts look on his face was priceless and he went screaming home to his mother that Stan shot rudolf. Stan did shoot an elk but had put a clowns nose on it just before showing Brett. The lesson of that is Rednecks are mean but they are sure funny lol Quote
Richard B the EMT Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I've had deer meat, but I'm an admitted coward, so I'm not shooting my own. Eating worms? Star Trek fan that I am, you won't find me eating Gagh (Gagh was a Klingon delicacy made from serpent worms. Although most Klingons preferred it live, it could be served stewed or cold as well. Many Humans tended to find gagh unappetizing, though both William T. Riker and Jean-Luc Picard claimed to have developed a taste for it, and Julian Bashir occasionally enjoyed it. Allegedly, the actual taste of gagh was revolting and it was eaten solely for the unique sensation of the gagh spasming in one's mouth and stomach in their death throes*) I saw that worm taco when swallowing some soda, so somebody almost owed me a new comuter when I gagged.
