Think there comes a certain point when necro-posts actually become interesting. If you necro-bump a few weeks/months it is annoying. If you necro-bump from a few years ago it can spark a new and interesting debate.

When you post in a dead thread for no reason.

Case in point; On another forum I browse, a guy posted in a thread that was long over and a year old to parrot something that had already been said.

OK, if you are just reposting something that has already been said, that is lame. If someone comes along and has something good to add, like I said, it can become an interesting thread. It's interesting over on SDN (sorry for mentioning another site) when someone does a necro-bump and you can see how contributors to the thread have changed over the years (such as going from med students to attendings).

Someone did that to a post not too long ago that Dust had posted on a lot and it made me really sad and made me miss him all over again

Somewhere on the site is a string called "Pun-Demonium". When I get a good pun, I reactivate the string, but haven't done so for over a year. BRB, going to see if it's still there...
