Jeb Tate, an EMS spokesman, said paramedics were responding to a call at the discount store when they returned to the vehicle and saw a boot on the tire. He said the emergency workers had left the lights flashing the entire time.

There have been many reports of abuse of authority, human rights violations and just plain stupidity since Katrina.

Oh, I just noticed he was a civilian and has been fired. I had no idea that civilians could put a boot on a vehicle.

Up here, I've seen a lot of people with boots on their boat and RV trailers to keep them from getting stolen.

And people like that will be the first to sue when the ambulance shows up after longer than they think it should.

Good idea and great point.

We had it happen to one of our trucks too, but they were not on an emergency. There is a hospital in the hood, where the only decent/safe restaurants in the neighborhood are inside the professional building connected to the hospital, but like most urban hospitals you have to pay to park personal vehicles. People tend to park at the gas stations across the street and run in to get a quick meal. There is a guy that sits there all day, just waiting to boot your vehicle if you do not walk into the convenience stores or buy gas. It's like $80.00 a pop, so no telling how much he makes in a day.

The guy who booted the ambulance was fired. I'm sure a lawsuit by the patient is in the works.

I read an article yesterday that the employee was from another country and did not know what an ambulance looks like. I say that is a bunch of bull.
