Mercy Med Helicopter Crash

[Just Plain Ruff]

Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa confirms last night that it's Medical Helicopter, Mercy Air Med Crashed enroute from Mason City to Emmetsburg at about 9:00pm on January 2, 2013.

The three people, nurse Shelly Lair-Langenbau, paramedic Russell(Russ) Piehl and the pilot not identified as of yet by the company all did not survive the accident.

There was no patient on board.

The FAA is investigating.

Condolences to the families of all involved.

Helicopter EMS is quickly becoming the most dangerous job in america, please fly safe.

This is becoming an all to often tradegy. Prayers for the family, friends and coworkers of these EMS providers.

It's scarey becuase of the report out of OK of the HEMS that went down there. Thank goodness that that pilot was able to bring them in with injuries and no deaths.

I read somewhere that HEMS was rapidly taking over as the most dangerous job in the USA, overtaking Alaska Fishermen. Very very sad day indeed.

Not the reason I retired from flying, but starting to think it was a good idea. Hits close to home as this program is a sister program to the one I flew for. Condolences for all the families of the crew, and also the co-workers. Sad, sad, sad......
