YoungEMT95 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 So I have recently started a new blog and I was wondering if anyone had any tips an tricks on getting more traffic to it without spending a ton of money. I would also appreciate any tips about blogging that others have gathered. Thanks! My blog is 17yoemsview.blogspot.com
ChaseZ Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I personally would not put my real name anywhere on my blog. Everything is searchable and could get you into some trouble. My blog is a place for me to vent about my job and is anonymous, few people know that I have it. I do not really have any advice on increasing traffic. I only have a few hundred views this month. Try to subscribe and follow other similar blogs and leave comments from your blogger.
Just Plain Ruff Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I also have a private blog that no-one has access to. I use it to bitch and vent about things. If some people were to get wind of my blog they would be surprised at what I have to say.
YoungEMT95 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 I'm not planning on bitching about things that will get me in trouble. I will not be posting my service or anything like that either.
paramedicmike Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Doesn't matter. Post your name and someone will find some way to either take something, or anything, you post in a negative light. They will find something you've written and argue that it is unflattering to your system/service/boss etc... whether you intended it to be so or not. There are plenty of news stories out there about people who have kept blogs and subsequently lost their jobs because of blog content. Be very careful about what you write and post. Keep your name off of it. Keep any specifics or identifying details out of it. You want to bring traffic to your blog? Do NOT do like what you did here and spam it out by asking "How do I increase traffic?". DO write in a well thought out, well presented and articulate manner so as to intrigue your readers that makes them want to come back for more. Or you can go buy ad space. But really, for a blog, you'd be wasting your money.
Kiwiology Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 On the internet, content is king. If you write dribbling non-sensical garbage nobody will care or read it (like most of my posts!) but if you write something well thought out people might be like oh thats interesting and stop off on their journey on this here information superhighway as they as passing through on the way to teh Facebookz or to watch porn.
Just Plain Ruff Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I don't visit anyone elses blog. I don't really care what anyone else is writing about. It's personal. I find it to be a cry for attention for or just the person being narcissistic when they want to post what they have to say. I don't consider anything that I have to say noteworthy that's why I don't put it out there for anyone else to read. now if I was writing a novel which I am, then that's a different story.

Richard B the EMT Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Careful, brother, remember that I am still in recovery mode from Superstorm Sandy!
Just Plain Ruff Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Yeah, no offense was intended at all. You have to know that. I deleted the offending post. I;m still mentioning you in my book though, it's how to insert a foot into a mouth and then how to bite down really hard without removing said toes. Edited January 23, 2013 by Captain ToHellWithItAll
