I continuously see meds that I have never heard of, and that aren't in our booklet of "what's that for". However, the list provided by our ePCR Software, EMStat, is totally useless. I just type them into the end of my chart.

Do you need a list of meds for your electronic report software???

Try epocrates for a current list of prescription meds.

We use Image trend and their drug library is very incomplete. Probably less than 50% of meds we see are in their dictionary.

What is:
D5-1/2NS
D5-1/4NS
D5LR
D5NS
D5W
?

I'm from Sweden so don't recognize all your drugs in the list, but I can figure out some by the substance-name... But never heard of this ones before.

D5 = Dextrose 5%

D5-1/2 NS Dextrose 5% with 1/2 normal saline (0.45 NS)

D5-1/4 NS = Dextrose 5% with 1/4 normal saline (0.225 NS)

D5LR = Dextrose 5% with Lactated Ringers

D5NS = Dextrose 5% with Normal Saline

D5W is Dextrose 5% in Water

Hope this helps.

At first, I thought is was a pt med list. Then I re-read it. Why are you carrying blood on the ambulance? There are some other meds on there that I have never seen organic to ambulance, either where I work now or other places that had a much larger med list. I have worked with guys that work in St Louis and they don't carry much. They don't have to because they have so many hospitals.
