Newbie here and new Paramedic grad.  Passed boards and applying for jobs, but having a tough time.  Have a BS in Bio and EMT-B but no experience as EMT-B or as a Paramedic.  Applying for every job where no exp. is required; including all surrounding areas, but can't even get an interview.

Any suggestions/ideas?   Anyone from the Charlotte area that may have some connections?  Am willing to start at the bottom, work any shift.  Need to pay bills.

TIA

Welcome and congratulations.

It's a tough spot to be in for sure.  Any connections from your ride time in paramedic school you can work for leads on who's hiring?

Another option to consider is local EDs as a tech.  No, it's not working the street but many EDs use EMTs and paramedics as techs.  If nothing else it could help get your foot in the door and start making some money to help offset bills while you continue to work on getting a street job.

If there truly is nothing in your area have you considered moving?

Thank you for the suggestions and am looking at tech positions 'as we speak'.  Contacting folks from ride alongs tomorrow as well as individuals from the program.  Definitely not opposed to moving but hoping not to.  The quintessential catch 22 rears its ugly head.

Education standards increased the breadth and depth of many paramedic-level topics. Program accreditation assures increased provider competency through documented patient assessments and demonstration of clinical competency. There is no relationship between paramedic student performance and time as an EMT.It would be a mistaken assumption to think that more EMT field experience would result in a higher success rate. For info visit this website .

WOW, great recruitment website that has absolutely NOTHING to do with EMS whatsoever.  If you are going to spam our site, make sure your employment website has something to do with helping EMT's and medics get jobs rather than Doctors getting jobs.  Now Just go away.

I went to the website outside of clicking on it via the link the yahoo/spammer provided in his post.

It brought up a physician recruitment website.  Bless his little ole heart, I'm sure he's got some quota he has to meet to satisfy some innate sense of purpose.

I as well have been wondering where the report button has gone as well.  It's gone from Dwayne's site as well.

Hello, we weren't trying to be spammy or inappropriate.  We posted the link in sincere thought that it could help people with recruitment in the EMS field.  There's no quota or anything that we're trying to satisfy, we genuinely think that the link is legitimate and can help EMT's and medics get jobs.  If you disagree and think it's irrelevant, we'll be happy to just remove our post and link.

James, thanks for coming back, but I saw nothing on your site that you linked that would have been helpful to EMT's or medics.  The only jobs available are for physicians and not emt's or paramedics.

While it's appreciated that you linked this for us, without any way for emt's and paramedics to search for jobs on that site, that's what makes it spam and inappropriate for this site.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
