Oh and for the record, I feel the same sort of uneasiness about all of the folks running around in NYPD and FDNY gear since 9/11. Its like you werent there, you dont have the training, dont wear the gear. Could we make an analogy to someone walking down the street in full USMC dress blues with rank insignia and decorations when he hadnt been in the Marines. In high school, I worked in an army navy surplus shop and while we were a supplier for ribbons, medals and rank insignia to all members of the service (we had a particular connection to the National Guard from Illinois) we would not sell any rank or decoration materials to anyone who couldnt show proof that they had a right to possess and/or wear the ribbons and medals. Im certainly not equating the NREMT cert. with the Congressional Medal of Honor, but I wonder if its not sort of in the same ball park at a much smaller level. Thanks again.

Some states have regulations against "impersonating an EMT". I'm not sure which is worse, someone wearing an EMT patch who isn't certified, or a police officer really having nothing better to do than bust someone who isn't certified who is wearing an EMT patch. Anyway, to prevent such an unfortunate (and lame) circumstances, if you collect patches, display them on your wall or something like that. Don't wear them. Problem solved.

NYC Administrative Law makes it a crime I think A misdemeanor, to sell any patches crests or insignia of NYPD, FDNY or other stuff like it to anyone who is not employed by that agency... NYPD Internal Affairs does stings and will shut down a uniform supplier for that violation..(this applies only to retail outlets and not individual person to person sales)

That being said it isnt illegal to trade or swap patches.... as for wearing them... THAT IS JUST WRONG..... put it on a wall at your station ,,, patch board what ever ,, but you look like a BUFF a--hole if you walk around in it... also wearing a police item could get you injured or killed if you walk into something like a robbery in progress.... etc.

I wear NO POLICE tee shirts, hats ,,, badges or insignia when i'm not working .... and if im on the street wearing the uniform,, i ALWAYS wear a vest...

Some food for thought for all you buffs out there ,,,, stay safe

I'd love to get into patch trading, the only problem is the company I work for doesn't have any patches. Any Ideas?

I have just posted the Patch worn in NS Canada.

I am glad someone finally did. We don't have any company patches, so I don't have any to put there. I may be able to find my old ones from my old service. Let me look around...
