Neo-Synephrine? Wow. That's one I haven't seen in quite awhile. What is it generally used for, spinal shock?

Use it a lot for major epistaxis... if they are not hypertensive... replaced the old stick, that some might remember. Use the IV form for spinal/neurogenic or septic shock.. with its alpha effects. Similar to the old Levophed.

Be safe,

Also use it before nasal intubation or NG tube placement.

Glad I read this thread now. I had been wondering what the Neo-Synephrine was for. Plano FD carries it but I never bothered to ask my preceptors why. Good thread dust!

Nasal spray for NG or NT intubation.

IV for septic shock, severe spinal injury with priapism, to prolong sedation and/or chemical paralysis, and in extreme cases as a last ditch effort to treat SVT (med control consult only and I've only known of one case where it has been used in our service).
