I've been with my fiance (Usafmedic45) for almost 2 years and there are some of the things that I've noticed over the time that we've been together.

1. You avoid watching Medical-related shows (Paramedics, ER, Trauma, Life in the ER, etc) because your significant other plays the "THEY'RE DOING IT WRONG!" game the whole time you're trying to watch.

2. The radio scanner has all the local departments programmed into it and is up at full volume all day long, this in turn scares you spitless when the tones go off and you're trying to take a nap!

3. You spend mealtimes together looking at trauma wound photographs online. (I'm so glad I have a constitution of iron for that kind of thing!)

4. Your first born son is named not after your grandfather but after one of your significant other's EMS friends overseas.

 My husband is NOT a volunteer so it can be difficult being the captain of a volunteer emergency squad. I try to do my work when he isn't at home. Our oldest son has been a volunteer fireman for over 15 years and gets angry if I am not allowed to first respond to a call. I have been a volunteer EMT for 20 years. I love it.

*A fun night is when you aren't interrupted by a beeping pager...

*When you are together and tones drop, you have contests to see who can 'name the tones' before the call is dispatched...

*You can watch TV and play the "he's doing it wrong" game...together
