Nebraska has 1st Responder. EMT-B, EMT-I (Both 99 and 85), and Paramedic. The weird thing is, is the state license for Intermediate doesn't differentiate between 85 and 99. It just says Intermediate. There are different protocols though. The state doesn't really seem to know what they want the scope for the I/99 to entail.

New York (upstate at least)

CFR- Certified First Responder - Cannot transport - the only time we have one is when a 17 yo gets permission to join the squad and plans to upgrade to EMT when they turn 18. Some of the surrounding villages have First Responder Units.

EMT - Basic - our squad doesn't have any, see below

EMT - D - Basic Defib - Tioga County requires an AHA CPR/AED Cert. at Healthcare Provider level

EMT - I - our squad has only one of these, grandfathered in (Hell, he is a Grandfather!)

EMT - CC - Critical Care - Almost all of the skills of a P with less phys and pharm training

EMT - P

NY doesn't use the NR, but the tests are derived from it. If you choose to take the NR test they recognize the NY skills test and give you credit for it.

CA has:

EMT-1 [EMT-B]

EMT-2 [EMT-Intermediate]

EMT-P

Only a couple counties left with EMT-2's, and even those are starting to upgrade to EMT-P

One of the few things that California EMS does right.

Phys and pharm aren't training. They are education.

More accurately, the EMT-CC would be "all the training with none of the education." :D

EMT Shock Trauma Tech??? You're making that one up right? Ohhhhh, you know there's some young guy with spiked up hair who chews his gum with his mouth open who has a special patch for that one. Actually, I kinda want to be a shock trauma tech now...

The most useful thing they could teach a "Shock Trauma Tech" would be how to drive faster.

Maryland has:

1. First Responder

2. EMT-B (State Licensure. Reciprocity can be obtained with NR)

3. CRT-I (Cardiac Rescue Technician-I'99 level)

4. Paramedic (National Registry)

5 .Speciality Care Paramedic (New this year. Optional program for private/interfacility transport companies. I believe the standard is the CCEMT-P curriculum).
