rat115 Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Ok, I'm curious what you would think of these strips. They were taken about 4 hours apart on the same person.
Punisher Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Sinus rhythm. No significant change between the strips.......why do you ask?
paramedicmike Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 ditto Punisher. patient's complaint? -be safe.
rat115 Posted June 15, 2006 Author Posted June 15, 2006  Sorry guys, my bad. Pt is complaining of discomfort and tingling =in her arms and pain in her neck. No history of heart problems. No meds. 35 year old female smoker. She does have a history of really bad migraines, but not much else.
Punisher Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Rule #1 of EKG's: you can't assess for anything but rate and rhythm from a single lead. I can neither rule in nor rule out the possibility of cardiac origin for the problems described. *This is me covering my ass*
Asysin2leads Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 That? Why, I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl... Just kidding. From the looks see it appears to be a NSR, but as said before a three lead will tell you only rate, regularity and presence of ectopy. The real nitty gritty fine stuff comes from a 12 lead. I'd need to know more about what led up to the attack, but from here it doesn't appear to be cardiac related. Her symptoms can range from meningitis to a migrane to a panic attack to a tumor, so its hard to say.
Ridryder 911 Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Other than maybe a little ST segment slur, I concur with others one can not make diagnostics of a single lead. Symptoms are to vague. R/r 911
Mediclease Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I agree with everyone else NSR and unless you did a 12 lead you can't diagnosis a cardiac events, and if she had tingling in both arms it could be from hyperventilation.....
paramedicmike Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 35 year old female and a smoker? Is she on birth control pills? You didn't mention any trouble breathing so it's more a shot in the dark. -be safe
PrissyEMT Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I'd have to agree with everyone else... it looks like NSR to me too (normal PR interval, QRS complexes, rate, etc). And you'd really need a 12 lead anyway to see more.
