Once when my partner and I were trying to convince a cardiac pt to go to the hosp. with us the fire chief stepped in and told the patient "how bout you go for a ride with these nice girls?"

I hate it when people call me an EMT.

Technically you are, EMT-P. However the only time "EMT" is used is when someone is Basic or an Intermediate, so I see what you're saying. :wink:

... Oh, by the way, I gave a non-riding member of my defunct Vollie Ambulance a generic ID card calling him a JAFO. He still has it, over 10 years later, even with him now knowing what JAFO means.

Was his name LYMANGOOD, by chance? That was a "Blue Thunder" reference, for the uninitiated.

Throughout the years I've been called;

Call me what you want...just don't call me "late to a scene".

Actually, based off of his name and his country, it is more likely he is a primary care paramedic, and hence not an EMT, but your point is still valid for other people.

So what if the nurse calls you and ambulance driver or EMT. There is a very easy fix to it. Next time you see them ask where the nurse is because you cannot give report to an aid or tech. when they say that there the nurse go ohh sorry you know as ambulance drives... don't forget to give a little sarcasm and a dirty look always gets the point across.

In religious parts, I was once called by the Yiddish equivalent of "wanton" (for being a woman wearing pants or driving an ambulance) :x .

In the non-religious sector I was once called the Hebrew equivalent of "hey babe" ... :angryfire: .

- But mostly we were called "OH GOD! WHAT HAPPENED?!" (by neighbors in elevators).

"Ambulance attendant" gets me, especially coming from my own brother who is a insurance adjuster for a major insurance company. I would think he would know the correct term:(
