JPINFV Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 OK, guys and gals.....if you read the first sentence in my post you will see that I come from a biochem background! My post refers to the process not the terms! Hypotonic - this solution has less solute than the comparitive solution (see 2nd sentence....these terms are relative); a hypotonic solution will receive solution across the gradient from a hypertonic solution. Maybe I'm a little fuzzy because I'm a 4th year Bio Sci undergrad, but please explain what situation where both solutions are under simular conditions (ex the hypertonic solution isn't under pressure) that a hypotonic solution would recieve solution across a gradient from a hypertonic solution. Solute? Yes. Solvent? No.
Emilea PA C Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 JPINFV, TYPO!!! That's the situation! Thanks for pointing out my mistake! A hypotonic solution will receive solute across the gradient from a hypertonic solution.
