chaser Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I'll present a scenario I am curious how you all would respond or dx this. I don't have vitals but can present other info. So I for now I'll just present what you would walk into: (scene is safe) Fe 29 yrs 3 months preg vomiting cramping/abd pain low grade fever
Just Plain Ruff Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 1. morning sickness 2. Ectopic preg 3. migraine 4. UTI 5. Miscarriage 6. low grade fever - infection unknown etiology no diagnosis in the field, suspicions only though. How long vomiting? I'd start a line for rehydration if you can. Get a blood sample for blood sugar. Set of vitals of course That's really all I'd do for the ride to the ER. Send her a bill for 1500 for ambulance ride he he
chaser Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 vomiting x 2 days + on the IV what other blood tests might be done?? for poss dx, r/o migraine, morning sickness. UTI, eptopic or molar preg would be a consideration, or course infection- good call- but separate the fact she is preg and look at the symptoms....
Just Plain Ruff Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Ok take the pregnancy out Endometriosis PID UTI
Just Plain Ruff Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I don't know what sector the pain is at. It's your scenario. You tell me?
chaser Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 Well, I thought you might ask. But LRQ and but radiating across lower quad
Just Plain Ruff Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 appendicitis then or ectopic Either way IV and transport Not much you can do in the ambulance for this patient - she needs intervention by a surgeon either way.
Connie31079 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Almost sounds identical to s/s I experienced in May, 1999. (But I wasn't pregnant @ the time!) They did exploratory surgery, found out to be ruptured appendix, which shortly thereafter, I became septic. But they didn't know what they'd find when they went in, thought it was either ruptured appendix, ruptured ovarian cyst or ectopic pregnancy.
PRPGfirerescuetech Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 mentation? skin? (warm pink, dry, cool clammy...)
