1) I like using my head for the rare call.

2) I get paid well and get good benefits.

3) The envious glares of most, and the leg humping of women....

The latter happens rarely...

Well...

Ya, I guess rarely...

It's the only thing I don't suck at.

And luckily, it pays damn well.

And you can't beat the travel benefits! :)

Well I love EMS/First Aid as you’re always meeting new people, it can be so challenging at times, I’ve done stuff that most 16 year olds could only dream about!

I’ve provided first aid at some of Australia’s biggest and most prestigious events.

You meet some amazing people who are in the medical field and have some much information and knowledge they share. There’s so much more!

I’m payed pretty good to be a sports trainer at our local football club! If you’re aussie you’ll know what I mean when I say, the atmosphere of football is so awesome! The classic stereotype is going to the footy every Saturday, eating a meat pie and harassing the hell out of the umpire, the onfeild brawls as well as the brawls in the crowd.Running out to someone who’s gone down with the crowd going off there head and screaming, that sort of atmosphere is what keeps me going back every Saturday. Everyone’s just so appreciative for everything you do and our junior teams were just incredible this year, they were such a great bunch of kids.

Another thing I love about footy is you always know how your patient went at hospital, your responsible for there rehabilitation. I hate it when we treat a patient in EMS and don’t find out if they survived.

To be quite honest with you, this is the only job I've ever had that I really enjoy, and how I can make a decent paycheque at the same time.

I used to work @ my 911 dispatch center, but I really couldn't handle it there because I was the one who is used to going on the call, not being the one who answered the 911 line with "ambulance dispatch", and hearing them scream in my ear on the other end of the phone. I honestly felt lost when that happened, like my hands were tied. I felt utterly helpless.

So, I went back to working the trucks full-time, and have never been happier.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
