Here we have our 3 usual...chest pain, fall with hip pain or auto accident on the highway. Our most interesting ones are always the one that gives the location of "---- colored ------ semi" at either one of the truck stops or the rest stop.

Believe it or not in our county it depends on what sector your working in. The North sees about 70 % trauma and 30% medical The West gets the retired folk who get pneumonia or fall down and break a hip about 90% medical and 10% trauma. The South sees a 50%-50% mixture of calls it depends on the day. I've had 4 trauma alerts and a cardiac arrest in one day in the south. The Cape sector sees about 70% percent medical and 30 % trauma

And of course all the BS that comes in between, people dont have anything else better to do then call 911 down here.

Most common by a LONG shot - Geriatric S.O.B. (probably 70%) There are many seniors in the area.

I am actually considered YOUNG in our community!

Probably suicide/OD, after that its CP or SOB, then probably DOA since everyone waits until the last minute to call us when they have had an active lower GI bleed for the last 16 hours.

Out here in the sticks in IL we get alot of falls, SOB, and chest pain. We have mostly elderly folks around here. Now, in the spring and fall we seem to get a few MVA's with the kids in school, an occasional suicide and around harvest time, we get the farming accidents. It just makes it bad because mostly everyone we pick up, we know personally. That's always hard.

Out here, where the population is about eighty-percent male, over eighty-percent of our ambo runs are on females, most with unexplained syncope.

Go figure.

Here in SW Virginia, we get alot of falls & CP. When winter rolls around and someone in the nursing home finally catches pneumonia, we end up running two-three a day for that.
