Sorry, Wisconsin EMS Association.

Ah, I was guessing "wilderness," although it's pretty much the same thing.

Yep, even our cot has four wheel drive! No "Git-R-Done" sticker though.

The improvisation I am most proud of is figuring out over twenty years ago that those orange or yellow Ferno CID head blocks worked wonderful for chocking your patient's body in between the siderails, preventing them from rolling around on the board during transport. Although, that doesn't seem as important these days, now that most of our patients are too fat to leave any room between their hips and the siderails in the first place. :?

And here we went and bought all kinds of straps for that. Dammit! :P:lol::D

Once we were trapped by a gang of drug lords. My partner constructed a cannon that shot watermelons on top of the van. We drove at the dealers and destroyed their vehicles with the watermelons. It was awesome.

Ohh wait, I'm sorry that was an A-Team episode. :?

If you've found a strap arrangement that actually prevents lateral roll, please share it with the rest of us! Even if you cinch those straps tight enough to asphyxiate your patient, he's still going to roll with just straps.

Has anyone else used entire newspapers around limbs as splints? Just cupping, not wrapping around all the way? It has rigidity, and is clearly disposable afterwards. Excellent secondary usage of the main section of the New York Times.

Do you guys cross your longboard straps or run them straight accross?

Yes Have seen it several times but most interestingly was seeing blankets used for rapid extracation for years then seeing it show up in Phtls books............ amazing how things catch on befor you know it your news paper splints will be there too!!

I`m not a pro at this , but , there are many things around us on every call that can be used for splints , traction or whatever is needed . Be open minded and rely on your brain more than your equipment .
