Why don't the let you?

A couple of times I have had a patient that I couldn't get a collar on and had to immobilize with a horseshoe blanket.

Has anyone else used entire newspapers around limbs as splints? Just cupping, not wrapping around all the way? It has rigidity, and is clearly disposable afterwards. Excellent secondary usage of the main section of the New York Times.

Newspaper is also a great self defense weapon.

Incognitogirl, never underestimate the power of the printed word, especially when swatting someone with section one of the Sunday New York Times!

If you've found a strap arrangement that actually prevents lateral roll, please share it with the rest of us! Even if you cinch those straps tight enough to asphyxiate your patient, he's still going to roll with just straps.

Two crossed over the shoulders, one across the hips (sometimes I go a smidge lower and cross the upper thighs), and a figure-8 at the feet.

That plus the stretcher straps, and I've never observed enough motion by the patient to have to worry about "chocking" them between the siderails.

Bushy, as to the Scoop for that purpose, welcome to the party!

We all know some tricks, and feel ...perhaps vindicated is the wrong word, but you feel good when someone else finds out about your old procedure, and claims it as new.

Perhaps next week, I'll find out a "new for me, old for someone else" procedure, and we'll all love it!

Never swat. Roll up tight Jab hard at the adams apple. But be advised could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon or murder if they do die. If you have more time can make a spear out of newspaper.
