True statement about cheating?

When I was doing my ride alongs I was told by one of the medics that there is a HIGH rate of people who cheat in EMS........I was told 95%. I was wondering if you all agreed with that, disagree and if so why do you think that is? Just seems like a really high rate to me

Please specify: Marital infidelity? Inflated timesheets/expense reports? Distorted PCRs? One in service of the other?

On tests and exams and stuff: You'll find it is extremely hard to cheat on exams on EMS. First of all if you get away with it, maybe you can get away with it once, but not repeatedly, and succesful practice in EMS is based on repeated performance. You can't fake starting an IV or interpreting a rhythm. Either you know it or you don't. So cheating in that respect, I don't think so.

In terms of marriage infidelity: The old saying that there is no sex in EMS. A much better way of phrasing it would be "There is no distinction of gender in EMS", because there certainly is a lot of hanky panky in this place. I blame it on the fact we hire a lot of scumbags into this field. Scumbags tend to cheat on the people who love them. I don't think the rate is 95%, because I don't know that many people I work with who are even married.

It would have been easy to cheat in my EMT class, difficult by doable at the NREMT test. Sometimes during scenarios, the student role-playing victim might let the student test-taker know through facial expression they were doing SOMETHING wrong, but it'd be EXTREMELY vague....and if the student didn't know his material, he wouldn't figure it out.

As far as infidelity...I know it's EXTREMELY high in LE, been told it's high in FD, no idea about EMS...though around here 90% of the EMTs are going for FD...Soo....my answer is I don't know

As far as infidelity goes, I've heard there is a high rate of it in EMS as well. I did some talking with a medic friend of mine who has also heard this and its just so easy to hide. If your in EMS your rarely home and its so easy to tell your spouse your going out on a call, yeah BOOTY CALL! Just easy to hide is what it boils down to. Unless your spouse is in EMS as well haha! BUSTED

I agree that cheating - infidelity in EMS is really high. There are just more chances to be able to get something on the side when you are in this field. For example… If you work 24 on and 48 off then you spouse is at their 8-5 job during your 48 hours off… well then there is plenty of time to sneak around and meet someone for a nooner. Also EMS people seem to have a demented sort of mind. The internet can also be a bad thing. If you "meet" someone online they don't really know for sure if you are married cause they can't see that ring finger. If your spouse meets someone online and then they can actually meet them during their 48 off while you are at work and have absolutely no idea.

TRUST me I know it happens...
