Thought this might be interesting as I was prompted to post this after the threads about EMS related wedding items.

We have a nice collection of Code 3, a few Vanguard and Red Hats of Courage figurines. We also have some beautiful Christmas ornaments that are collectors items which were gifts to my husband. We have a couple of throw blankets and just different things like that. We try to contain our "whackerism" to home stuff only but I do wear a small gold star of life necklace as a part of everyday jewelry.

I have several EMS-type shirts that my hubby insists on buying for me every chance he gets, along with all manner of hot wheel or remote controlled ambulances. I think he gets more of a kick out of the stuff than I do. Aside from a comprahensive first aid kit, I think that is about all I have at my house.

I go more for the firefighting collectibles.. I have a bunch of street signs, novelty signs, old extinguishers, cast iron fire engines, code 3 collectibles, Faraday alarms, a Federal Signal Gas siren (well the casing anyway, the motor never worked), Emergency "51" Helmet, books on various fire engine manufacturers, histories of firefighting and the like items. However, I do like old EMS stuff, resuscitators, empty cases that things came in, various lots of supplies, the old green hudson oxygen boxes, Erickson & Johnstone resuscitators, Emerson resuscitators, books on the subject of EMS history, Cadillac ambos, Cotner-Bevington ambos, Pontiac ambos. I also have several DVD collections of films that are about EMS, rescue squads and firefighting; and I own the "James O. Page Collection". I take the stuff to flea markets, etc, and trade it for firefighting stuff. It's the hobby side of emergency services.

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a collector. I have CG stuff from when I was in the CG - printing dye of the CG emblem, a belt buckle I bought for my husband that he's never worn, Tshirts, suncatchers..you name it; CNA stuff from when I was a CNA; Cheerleading stuff from when I was a cheerleader in high school and most recently a cheerleading coach; I have handbells and music themed items as I've always been a musician (I just purchased a new Tshirt at the Bell Festival yesterday).

I have an EMT shirt (the blue flame one) hanging on a hook in my bedroom on a padded hanger for inspiration and focus, but I don't intend to wear it or purchase anything else EMS until I pass EMTB.

And yes, I know I'm a geek   I don't see anything wrong in having pride in what you do.

First responder kit including 2 o2 tanks. Some used to joke that I am better equiped than the ambulance. Also have some wildland ff gear. But not big in buying collectables, Though some of the t-shirts might be nice even if couldn't wear them because to funny.
