FDNY currently works on a 5/2 5/3 platoon schedule... this means you work 5 (8 hour) days and get 2 off... followed by 5 days on and 3 days off...

So, there are no steady days off, but you may be lucky enought to lock into a 3rd relief evening shift or 1st relief midnight shift...

there are different hours depending what station you work at they are:

2nd relief (daywork):

0600-1400

0700-1500

0800-1600

0900-1700

or 1000-1800

3rd relief is (evening)

1400-2200

1500-2300

1600-2400

1700-0100

1800-0200

You can figure out 1st relief, you get the idea.

The shift you will get depends upon available spots at the station you end up in... crap shoot
