Don't forget all the flashing red lights, a big bumper sticker along the line of emts save paramedics. Don't forget the trauma cape and complete kit including the trauma hatchet. See if you can find a cheap set of jaws somewhere, check ebay. Make sure it is a big response bag so if you get a school bus accident you are good to go. Good luck.

he's not an emt, hes not a cfr, hes going to be going to school to be an EMT soon, and apparently is on a volunteer squad.

My question was about how his local volunteer agency was run...equipment given and when they can respond directly to calls. I understand not an EMT now, so he's not going to be showing up on scene at all and the equipment list is for a over a year from now.

I don't believe there are 50 plus. I'd agree more with the 4 levels. Granted you can branch into critical care and or other specialties but those are really the only 4 levels of emergency responders. Although as previously mentioned some states use diffrent titles, but I think it still comes out to four levels.

Naw.. There are so many different protocol sets for everything, even EMT-Basic's differ from state to state. There was a list on here w/ 50 some odd separate certifications.

sure emt-b, emt-b water rescue, emt-b mountain rescue, emt-b farm equipment rescue(yes there is a farm equipment certification)

but thats all included under emt-b in my eyes.

Any organization that forces it's members to equip themselves sucks. When I worked at the water park, I had to carry around a fanny pack at all times with a glove/gauze pack and a cpr mask (there was also a jump bag in case something happened, but we didn't have to carry it with us if, for example, we were in the park getting food). They supplied the pack and we were allowed to add anything else we want to it at no cost to us.

yeah im new to it all, im not even an emt yet, so i cant really take vitals or any of that, but in time i will, and then i will probobly get that stuff, ill just have to add it to the list. if you read it all you would lnow that my uncle gave it to me, and he didnt have the O2 bottle for it. thats why i dont have, and at the age of 18 i dont have the money to buy a O2 tank.

I should like to point out the requirement of a prescription for carrying O2. Of course, the problem of what to carry would be a non-issue if you would not POV to anything. The issue would be solved even better with a staffed career EMS system. Oh, what a pleasant dream...

I strongly suggest the bloopers reel that is on the 1998 Convention DVD. Bobby Troup has quite a wide range of curse words on hand. Now that scene from MASH (72), where he drives the jeep makes sense!
