How do people feel about the new computer testing with the National Registry?

I'm not sure if you are asking for personal experiences, or just general observations of the process. I haven't taken the computer test (although I think I am going to have to in order to re-enter), I see it as a very positive piece of progress. The bureaucracy of the testing process is significantly lessened by CAT. Now if they can just get rid of the stupid skills testing too!

Heard that it was alot better for students. Unfortunately, I was one of the dinasours that had to sit through the entire paper test. I hope this new type of testing will make it somewhat easier for students. They go through enough torture.

I havent ever taken the NREMT-P exam by computer or any other way have only certified at the KS state level and that was way back in 1996. However, I am getting ready to take it and any advice anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated

According to my EMT Instructor as of 09-22-07 the "SKILLS" test is in no longer part of the curriculum (in MI).

the skills testing has not been removed from Michigan testing--- NREMT basic and specialist

still have to take the test (previously on paper, now computer) along with the test the practical skills testing is still in full force. have to go though all the skill stations CPR, Combitube, Oxygen , trauma, medical , bleeding control All the practical skills required from NREMT ithought it was 6 stations not sure for specialist but i think it is 4 including ET.

I hate the comp test. i have taken it three times and it sucks. i wish we could still take the paper test. you cant go back and check answers and once you click next you better be sure and you cant change a thing. thats not all that i hate about it but good enough. the only good thing i can see about it is that you dont have to wait long after you sign up for the test and you get your results sooner. and as far as the practicals go here in oklahoma you still have to take them the basic is done at the school you took the class when u finish and the i and p you have to go to a NREMT test date and take your practical exam.
