Icecuban Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 In my book there is a section about Pulse Oximetry and the readings of an oximeter are in percents of SpO2 now I can tell what the O2 is for but whats the Sp for. I'm guesses but is it for saturated percent??
medicmole Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 The definition I was given was "saturation of peripheral oxygen". I believe there are others that refer to SPO2 as "spot oxygen saturation".
brentoli Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Those are the two definitions I found while googling it as well, trying to find all the ways it is used. Google is taking over the earth, one abbreviation at a time.
medicmole Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Google? You mean you didn't know the answer off the top of your head?
brentoli Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Shoot. Google makes the world go round. At least I am honest when I google, and tell everyone straight up.
