JEMS had a great article about that. It compared nation wide salaries and certification levels (mostly urban areas). Its part of an annual survey they do. The 2006 survey results were published in the Feb '07 issue. Perhaps you can find a copy of it.

i worked in southern calf as an emt and i worked tons of over time and i was still living paycheck to paycheck, and i dont have a wife or child. ems is a great job but most of the time the money isnt there. if you really want to work in the health field just get an AA in nursing. by the way ems and nursing are two completely different things. good luck man
