I'll do you one better- in Worcester there are buildings with EMS override switches in their elevators, just like the FD override switches. Complete with keys carried by WEMS.

They're all over the place here in Los Angeles. However, I've found that they don't always indicate that an elevator will fit your gurney (and ours is rather small, compared to the Stryker style - we use Ferno 28's). Some elevators can be really damn small and still display the star of life. :roll:

I know at my hospital the elevators to accommodate stretchers are not marked by the star, however there are separate elevators for hospital staff and the general public, so of course, all the staff elevators are big enough to accommodate stretchers. Never seen the star on one myself though.

We have a hospital in Pittsburgh suburb taht has a SOL next to it, just means thats the elevator EMS uses for transfers and stuff
